Nora’s first day at the Coop was this past Monday… she was very excited about going and had lots of fun. We did okay also although it was sad to think of this as the first step in her going away to real school. Amanda is the host mom on Wednesday so she will get to see first hand how it is all going. Nora is already pumped about going again.
For reasons only known to Nora, she decided today was the day to bring out her winter coat and wear it around the house. I don’t think she was cold since she refused to put on pants with this outfit.
Following in Nana’s footsteps, we started the yearly tradition of decorating Easter eggs at the house. Nora was fascinated by dipping the eggs in multiple colors to see what color would result. Maybe next year I won’t be quite as worried about her knocking over one (or more) of the colored dyes. She dipped some of the eggs, but getting her to not just drop them in the cups was tricky.
Amanda took Nora to an Easter egg hunt this past Friday. Based on talking to Amanda and looking at the pictures, I’m pretty sure we would have had lots more candy here at the house if Nora had kept her basket off her head more of the time. She was definitely more interested in walking around and occasionally picking up an egg rather than the mad dash to collect as much as possible that others were doing.
We reached a milestone of sorts this past week when Nora had her first meal at home on a regular plate. There is still plenty of food going over the sides that Abby waits patiently to eat, but most is now reaching her mouth with a spoon/fork. For the record, the meal was roasted beets and a omelet/crepe with beet greens in it. We are also moving away from lidded cups for her drinks which works most of the time, except when it gets spilled everywhere.
Around noon today I told Nora it was almost lunchtime and that I was going to start cooking. She told me I had to wait and that she was going to feed me first. That’s when she put together the spread you can see in the picture. I’m not too sure what all it was, but she was quite pleased with how it all turned out (and naturally it tasted great).
Amanda and Nora went for a walk around the neighborhood this past week and Amanda got these really cute pics of Nora taking a little break.
I don’t remember what exactly was going on when I took these pictures, but Nora’s helmet is not normally part of a crazy outfit so I’m guessing we were about to head out on a bike ride. She is getting progressively better at the pedaling and once she starts looking up at the road as opposed to her feet, it might be time to remove the training wheels.
Nora’s “Little Baby Yellow Elephant” receives most of Nora’s medical attention but this afternoon she decided to give me a check-up as well. As best I can determine, her elephant has a chronic knee injury that requires multiple shots and band-aids. According to Nora, I am doing well. As it turns out, it is quite difficult to use a timer on the camera and get back into the chair for the next step of a check-up so the focus/framing is really off in these pictures but I like them anyway.
Not surprisingly, we haven’t taken the window decorations down from Nora’s birthday party a couple weeks ago. She recently rediscovered them and realized she can move them around and stick them to all sorts of surfaces. The morning I took these pictures, she was busy building a vine for Amanda.
