While Amanda and I cooked dinner this week, Nora decided to set up a viewing station.  I suppose this is her version of the cooking channel.  Not too sure about the sunglasses though.

The traditional fifth wedding anniversary gift is supposed to be something prepared from wood so I made a sleeping platform for the back of our truck.  In combination with the camper shell, we now have our own version of a RV.  Nora’s sickness last week canceled the maiden voyage, but we should be trying it out soon.  I finished it up late one evening and Nora insisted on coming out to see it after her bath and didn’t want to put on pajamas yet.  To be honest, she was far more interested in the light than anything else.

We took a drive up 183 and checked out a couple of the parks in the Cedar Park area…  One of the parks had a unique wobbly balance beam that we all tried out.  I made it across with Nora on my shoulders but then during the dismount, I lost my balance and we took a roll in the gravel.  Nobody got hurt and Nora seemed to think it was fun to fall.

Amanda and Nora blew bubbles in the backyard this week and Holly spent quite a bit of time trying to understand what was going on.  Nora got into our dirty clothes basket later that day and pulled out my Bonnaroo jersey to supplement her supply of “crazy outfits.”

]]> http://the-blooms.org/2012/01/27/playing-in-the-backyard/feed/ 0 Architects of Air http://the-blooms.org/2012/01/24/architects-of-air/ http://the-blooms.org/2012/01/24/architects-of-air/#comments Tue, 24 Jan 2012 22:06:31 +0000 Eric http://the-blooms.org/?p=2181 Continue reading →]]> We took Nora to the “Architects of Air” exhibit at the Long Center this past Friday.  It was the last day of the exhibit so even though we arrived at opening time, we ended up in line for over 2 hours.  Luckily, there was a little boy named Henry (in red below) in line near us and they played together most of the time.  We spent about 20-30 minutes walking around inside while new age electronic music played in the background.  All of the light is natural sunlight coming through the walls and it made pictures very difficult.  Nora ran all over inside which made it even more tricky.  The last couple pics are of the ceilings which had really cool contours and patterns caused by the star shaped pods you see in the first pic.

The crazy outfits are continuing although we had to restrict her to the clothes in her bottom drawer.  It was just too difficult to keep track of things when she was pulling outfits out of every drawer.  It appears that headbands might be rising in popularity though.
