One of the many new things we are getting used to here in Colorado is the giant piles of snow in parking lots. The plows push it all into corners and they last much longer than any of the actual snow. We were headed back from the library tonight and for some reason, Amanda and Nora decided to run up one. Most of the other snow around melted away so hopefully we will get more snow before Christmas.
A sign?
While in Texas, we hatched a plan to perhaps find a Maine Coon cat… then on the walk home from school a couple days later, we came across this art/graffiti. Perhaps it is a confirmation that we should… I know Nora and Amanda see it that way.
A day with Oma and Oma Oma
We spent the day after our Christmas with Oma and Oma Oma at the horse stables. Nora participated in the fun stuff like riding and the less fun things such as scooping poop and had a great time doing it all. Afterwards, we went back home and Oma Oma gave us a tour of her private woods back behind the house. It’s impressive what she accomplished with a rake and saw.

Christmas at the Bloom’s
Next up was Christmas with my parent’s… Oma cooked a very tasty meal and we spent the evening opening gifts and talking. Nora found a found a recipe for ginger cookies on the Rainbow Magic Fairy website so she decided to cook them with Oma. One of Nora’s gifts was a set of earmuffs that became instantly popular due to the reusable warmers inside them. I love the pictures of Oma and Oma Oma below.
Christmas at the Klose’s
Our first stop on the quick tour of Texas was at Nana and Papa’s for the Klose Christmas. On the way home from the airport, we stopped at a neat science museum in Frisco with multiple hands on exhibits plus a foam building area. The video below shows the unfortunate collapse of one of our structures. We spent the next couple days just hanging around, spending time with family and having lots of fun. Nana took quite a few more pictures and posted them here. Continue reading
Visit to Jennifer’s
We spent the morning before our flight back hanging out with Jennifer. Our breakfast at Kerbey Lane was awesome and was a good reminder of the mornings we used to spend there. If we had only know our return flight would be delayed by 4 hours, we could have spent more time, but instead we were at the airport for what felt like an entire day. That morning I took the picture below of Nora playing Super Mario Kart at Chris and Brianna’s. I think she looks so remarkably grown up in it.
Nora as Vader
We are caught up on the original Star Wars trilogy and can’t wait to go see it in the theater. This video shows the new way Nora uses her inhaler twice a day.
On the playground
Nora’s teacher took this photo of Nora and some friends at recess. It is still a bit surprising how excited the kids get with the first snow. By the time we picked her up, their creation had melted away.
Mt. Sanitas (revisited)
Unfortunately, Amanda woke up this morning with an awful muscle cramp that meant Nora and I would be on our own to hike Mt. Sanitas. It was a beautiful day and the trail gave us awesome views of the Rockies. The sprawling view of Boulder from the top is cool as well.
Parade of Lights
We attended the Parade of Lights downtown but didn’t quite last an hour due to the impressively cold wind blowing. I guess we need another year to toughen up. The definite highlight was a Chinese student group that incorporated a long Chinese dragon into the parade. Earlier in the day, Amanda’s work held an ugly sweater party as you can see in the picture below. Nora disagrees with her sweater’s designation and insists on frequently wearing it elsewhere.
